Gee, we used to have an internet cafe that charged for wifi, but that's closed down. I haven't noticed any places advertising free wifi. About the closest that I know has it would be the McDonalds in Sneads Ferry, then there's a couple coffee places in Hampstead that have it (Port City Java, Surf City Deli and Bakery). If you're staying at a beach house, motel, or resort; they may have it available.

I hope the beach house has it if not I am trying to think of options. I will use it to
escape from the under 7 screaming nephews & nieces too.
Is there a Panera Bread or similer? or Barnes & Noble. I used a MC'ds before but you gotta
make sure your laptop battery fully charge as there usually no outlets around booths for safety reasons

In Surf City???? Hahahahaha!! You don't realize what a small town you're going to!! Wilmington would be the closest with those!!!! And that's 45 minutes away!!!
McD's in Snead's Ferry is about it!

Sunny
I am have to agree that Surf city is far away from everything.
Look in Ogden/Hampstead , that will be your
best bet.
bring earplugs.

Go to Snead's Ferry to The Riverview Restaurant. It sits on the New River just before it flows into the Intercoastal Waterway. It's opposite "Judge's Row" at Camp LeJeune.
You HAVE to go to Topsail Island Trading Company in Surf City and get some of their fudge!! It's made fresh daily, and they have 35-40 varieties...it is FABULOUS!!!!

The usual tourist stops are the turtle hospital and the Missles and More museum in Topsail Beach at the south end of the island, both interesting. They have a nice soundside beach access there also which is lovely, especially if you have little kids who get tired of the big ocean waves. From there you can walk around the entire undeveloped south end of the island to the oceanside. Surf City has some nice parks and playgrounds with walkways built out into the marsh, the biggest one is near the swing bridge. There is also a park on the mainland which has a rec building and tennis courts. You said no restaurants, but we do have some good ones. Topsail beach also has a great little bookstore - the Quartermoon.

Might be a bit late on this one, but before you go over the bridge, there's a shopping center on the left with a Subway and some other stores. I believe there's a wifi provider in that shopping center.
However, once you get the island, you're out of luck
