I'll be all over Hatteras Island for 3 days next week shooting a short documentary for a family.

While I'm there, is there anything that I "have to do" before I leave? I'm always looking for photographic oppertunities. Is there anything that I must photograph while I'm there?

Humm.....I would go to the lighthouse and take photos there. If you can get out to Cape Point, there are opportunities there with the environment and possibly fishermen. The docks at Hatteras Village around 4pm when the charter fishermen come in could be pretty cool. Might get something worth while. Sunset over the Pamlico is sweet to take photos of. Sun just melts into the water. Maybe some action shots of kiteboarders/etc in Canadian hole or surfers in the S curves. Also, sweet bird/animal life near the lighthouse and Pea Island.

Can't think of anything else right off, but that will get you started

The oh so freaking wonderful Audubon society has screwed Hatteras Island up in the extreme. Thanks to their half assed efforts at preserving the piping plover, a great many bits of the beach are closed. Google it to see exactly how and what they've screwed up...and especially the people that they have screwed over.

Sonny's for breakfast and you can probably walk the marinas and get some great pics of all the boats. Also, definitely take a trip to the top of the lighthouse...
