Default NC beaches

Hi - We are going to be in NC in August and would like to spend a few days at the beach...any areas that would be of recommendation? I'm not too familiar with Eastern NC...(yet!)

We moved to NC last year, and have made it to the beach twice. We went to Topsail Island and Atlantic Beach. Topsail is definitely my favorite of the two. The beach there has a whiter sand than Atlantic Beach. Plus I just liked the atmosphere better there. I've heard from a few people that Wrightsville Beach is nice, too.

Just kidding - great pics.

My vote goes to Topsail Island or Emerald Island.

OBX Outer Banks... Nags Head, Kitty Hawk, Kill Devil Hills, Southern Shores, or Duck... I love staying in Nags Head personally.

We go to Corolla in OBX every year. Great beaches for families and not crowded, as it is as far north as you can go. I've hear Oracoke(sp?) island is nice too. I would love to check it out some time.

My home turf is the Crystal Coast and you will find lots of pictures at my Picasa Web Albums site
and at my Flickr site.

I don't think you can go very wrong with any beach. You'll probably have your own favorite after a trip or two.

Beaches have personalities just like people, you just have to find one that fits.

This morning beach shot in Emerald Isle is one of my all time favorites
as is this evening sunset over Bogue Sound.

I like the shots so much that I had postcards made up which I hand out as business cards.

Some of the best beaches are only reachable by boat, but you can even hire that if you want.

I also have an advertising free website with some beach info.
