My family and I would love to go to the beach for a weekend, maybe even a long weekend, this summer. We are coming from Raleigh.

I am not very familiar with the NC beaches -- we did rent a cottage for one week on Oak Island a few years ago and had a great time, so we know that area a bit.

The thing is, whenever I have looked at orbitz or other similar sites, the prices at the beach hotels seem to start around $300/night AND have a two night minimum. Considering we are going to spend a good bit of money at restaurants during our trip, this starts to add up to a pretty expensive weekend. We have two small children.

I figure that have got to be some more inexpensive but still clean lodging or or near the beach. We are open to any town. Maybe there are some establishments that are not coming up in my internet searches that someone could let me know about?

Thanks for any help!

You won't find cheap/good places to stay near the beach this time of the year. You might be able to find a place within 30 minutes of the beach though.

Hmmm. That's not sounding good.

I just did some more googling and found this place, Sea Vista Motel:

Sea Vista Motel - Topsail Island, NC

On Topsail.

Their rates are reasonable. Is anyone familiar with this place? It seems nice to me.
