As far as I can tell from my post on the White Oak River, we had no problems from Earl.

In western Carteret County we only got 3/4 of an inch of rain and probably did not see winds above 30 mph

The Carteret News Times seems to agree (http://www.carteretnewstimes.com/articles/2010/09/03/news-times/news/doc4c80f0dc7bbc9386570096.txt - broken link).

Raleigh News and Observer reports that there was minor flooding on Route 12 near Cedar Island but little damage on the Crystal Coast.

I wonder if Earl has had any effect on fishing, I am due down there for a Tuna trip next weekend.

Smile Hopes are high for improved fishing

Dr. Bogus who writes a column for the Tideland news is also on Facebook.

This is what he had to say yesterday morning.

Quote:
Surf down to 81 today, sound at 82, and a few mullet leaking out into the surf around Bogue Inlet. Hopefully we'll see a good crop of mullet in the surf by tomorrow. Only a few blues being caught today, surf was still a bit murky , but should clean up on the north wind. No fish today....
Not really much inkling of what is happening offshore, but if the over-parked situation at Wildlife Ramp in Cedar Point on Saturday is any indication, plenty of folks will be chasing fish this weekend.

I suspect there will be some info around by tomorrow morning. You might check the blog of Captain Tom Roller of Waterdog Guide Service. He will probably have something to say this week.

You can also the NCMF report for the Crystal Coast area at this link. The last report was dated August 28.
