Default Any pollution on the Carolina Coast?

Does anyone know anything about water and air pollution at the coast, specifically Chowan and Perquimans counties? There have been problems in the recent past with pig waste contamination and red tide.

I do not recall any reports of redtide in NC,but we do have phisteria which is about the same thing(could be mistaken but fishing is my thing and have lived here all my life never have Red tide here.) But we do have major water q problems with high nitrogen levels from upstream cities Raliegh ect, hog waste and high mercury levels in the Neuse River, Pamilco sound area. This has caused severe fish kills numbers in the tens of thousand of dead fish had one earlier this year in the Neuse river.
