Default Anyone with horses in this area?

I just moved to Wilmington about a month ago. I came here for the job of a lifetime...didn't quite turn out that way. Anyway, I'm no longer homeless, but my horse is, so I was wondering if there's anyone on this forum who has horses that could help me find a place. Even if it's just temporary, I need somewhere I can afford until I can get a decent job. He's a TWH Gelding who is just an overgrown ham. Loves attention, is an easy keeper, and extremely laid back. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!

Post on the forum at NCHorseNews.com.... there are quite a few folks from Wilmington that post on there and maybe one of them would have a good suggestion for you.

The forum was down this weekend but hopefully it will be back up soon.

I've been trying to get on that forum for a while now. I finally got my confirmation email and now it's down. I was just given my 2 weeks notice today so I'm running out of time to find somewhere and I still haven't found a job. We both may be homeless soon!

There are many listings under "Stables" in the Wilmington Yellow pages.
There are also stables outside of Wilmington in Brunswick, Pender and Columbus Counties. Not sure if you want to go that far, but they would probably be cheaper.
Here's the website for Horsemen's Assoc. of Columbus County -- they might could help:

You could try asking the people who work in the local tack shops. They might know of a local horse owner who has an extra horse stall on their property. Maybe one of them would be willing to stable your horse temporarily, for a moderate fee. The tack shops might also let you post flyers in their stores. You might also try calling the large animal veterinarians who serve that area, if anyone would have the inside info, they would. I found a couple of tack shops listed online if it helps:

The Equestrian Shop/ Mobil Unit
4927 Marlin Ct.
Wilmington, NC 28403

Sea Horse Sports
5751 Oleander Dr,Suite 9
Wilmington, NC, 28403, USA

Thank you so much for your responses guys. You're a great help. Of course, now it looks like I'll be moving to Jacksonville so I have to shift my search. The biggest problem I'm running into is that I need somewhere that charges under $200 and that just doesn't exist.

Yac,

There appears to be some confusion regarding a link that I posted. In fact, the webpage pointed to by the link had absolutely NOTHING to do with real estate. The only service mentioned on the webpage was the boarding of horses at a stables. For your convenience, I will send the same link to you in a private message. If I have overlooked some nuance that did constitute an infraction of the rules, feel free to explain it to me in detail. I would not want to inadvertently break any rules. Thank you for your time.
