Default Hwy 17 through Little Washington?

Are they making major changes in Little Washington to 17?

If so how far north and south does it affect? Are they planning on this really "helping" out the area or is this just one of those things they have needed to do because of heavier traffic? I haven't found any info about it yet.

Thanks muchly

I think there is a large project to improve Hwy 17 throughout NC-to 4 lane and bypass. I know they are building a bypass around Washington.
Here is an article I was able to find about the project:

Default Thank you for your reply

I sure appreciate your time and that article. I read it with great interest as it was more than I had found.

I hope this is a good thing and what everyone wants in the area? Have a great weekend.

I was there last week on vacation and saw some of the Hwy 17 construction going on as we headed to Cliff's Seafood for dinner one night. I can understand wanting to keep traffic woes to a minimum - I just don't want to see downtown lose any more businesses as they are already struggling to survive.
