I'm 23 and I really want to spend time there later on this summer.
I have not made reservations yet because I do not know if I can actually make it yet.

I simply am looking for a clean, reputable motel with ac, comfortable to sleep well, and not too far from the beach which is affordable as I don't have too much to spend.
I'd consider Nags Head, Kitty Hawk, Kill Devil Hills, and Hatteras Island.

I wanted to know
1) If it would be late to book now, or if I have still a few weeks to make mid to late August reservations in my price range
-5 or 6 days preferred under $500 total

2) Which location you would recommend given I am 23, plan to go by myself.
I have been before and would like peace but feel Hatteras Island might be too isolated to stay.

3) Any recommendations on good, affordable hotels in the locations stated?

4) Do you have any recommendations on websites?
-I found this The Outer Banks of North Carolina® Visitors Bureau
-Any good?

5) Do you have any recommendations on where I can get more information to plan a nice eventful trip?
-I haven't been in a long time, and this is short notice but I'd hate to miss out sites to see, activites to do, and good restaraunts.

Thanks.

This is my favorite place in the whole state and my dream place to live.

Outer banks still keeps it natural charm without commercial development like you would find at other beaches like atantic, myrtle, etc. Most of what is available is rental homes if you are going for 5 to 6 days you should consider doing a 7 day rental in a rental home I have found sometimes you are better off maybe find a good condo to stay in but the choice is yours. there is motels and very few hotels and only one or two will show up on those travel discount sites so best bet is to call or go website for each one and decide from there.

I do not think it is too late to get a room but amenities you may desire in a place may be limited.

The rates on hatteras island are cheaper than nags head and north. However there is more to do in northern part of the outer banks.

I stayed in Avon on hatteras island and I was ok with limited options it still has the old beach town charm with limited chain stores and restuarants. Most of them was mom and pop stores, restaurants, video stores etc. I just wanted to enjoy relaxing time at the beach so this place met my needs.

Things to do Jockeys, Ridge, windsurfing, hang gliding , wind boarding, flying kites, currituck estuary, dolphin tours, crabbing, fishing, pea island refuge, going up two of the 4 light houses, ocracoke, aquarium, watching the turtles in the canals. seeing the beautiful sunsets over the pamico sound. kayaking, eco tours. 4x4 wild horse tours, avalon and avon pier one of the original wood piers.

The biggest challenge I had when I was looking for a place to stay as mention above was finding a place to stay because I am use to staying in hotels and motels so that is how I learn I am better off getting a home rental and only thing that I didnt get was maid service and I was ok with that considering I get a fully furnish home with hot tub pvt pool, and deck over looking the sound.

If you decide to go with vacation home rental let me know and Ill compose a list of various rental agencies but here is list of hotels and motels at the outer banks.

Thank you.

1) COuld this be moved back to the main page, where more people could see?
I need all the viewers I can have because I am novice here.

2) I would prefer hotel/motel over a house because of costs. I don't have money for a house which costs more and likely am going solo.

3) Of the hotels/motels listed, do you have any recommendations on what to avoid or go?

4) Do you have any books or websites to recommend that could help me compile an iternary
-Places to stay
-Things to do
-Places to eat

A guidebook or website or both of those?

Thanks.
