So I was at the State Farmers Market today in Raleigh. I noticed all of the vendors from the eastern part of the state. NCDA officially runs five state farmers markets (Asheville, Charlotte, Raleigh, Piedmont Triad [Colfax], Lumberton).

All are west of I-95, except for Lumberton, which is a quick sneeze east. Wouldn't it be awesome for Greenville, the "center of the east" to host the first real one in the east.

I know the negatives, no money in the budget etc etc etc. But I think the east needs an official "state farmers market" to showcase our produce.

it'd be nice, not sure necessary. t seems the east has filled the gap w/ roadside produce stands which are all along 70. local produce and goods can also be purchased at the flea mall in Newport. Many cities have here own farmer's market as well. Goldsboro has one every weds.

I agree, it would be SO nice. The Pitt County Farmers Market is fairly pathetic...
