Could anyone who lives in Edenton or knows someone who does tell me anything about this town as far as a place to retire. My husband and I are planning to visit there next month. We have heard a few nice things from friends who have family that live there and say it is a very nice place to live. We currently live in Pasadena Maryland near the water.

Please, any info would be greatly appreciated.

Thank you

I know a childhood friend that lives in nearby Currituck. Loves the area, nice folks. schools arent the greatest but if you are looking to retire there, I would say to visit the area first of course. Lots of history and restaurants without the rude Charleston locals.

If you're nearing retirement age be aware that medical care is severely limited in that area. It's not like being in Anne Arundel County. The largest and most comprehensive medical facilities are either in Greenville, NC or Virginia Beach, Va. Both are quite a ride from Edenton. From Edenton to Greenville is an hour and a half. To VB is an hour and fourty minutes.

It's just something to think about.

BTW, my wife and I (and almost my whole family) moved here from Mayo back in 2006. Mayo is just south of Annapolis. The neighbors across the street from us came here from PG County. There are plenty of Marylander's here.

Sorry not an Edenton comment but I was surprised to read you moved from Mayo (so did our cousins but they are in Pollocksville).

There are others from Mayo here. We have some friends in New Bern and others over in Washington. And then one of my best friends from MD, his cousin is in New Bern too.

Not to take over this thread (but it was revived after a long time) - wonder if you might all know each other?

It could be. Tell your cousin that my wife worked at Lou's Corner Stop. Everybody knew Patti.
