There is about two inches on the ground in Wilmington as of 10am. I am NOT looking forward to driving in this. Navigating the snow is no problem. Navigating the rookie drivers will be a chore.
my mother told me she woke up to snow in Havelock and it was an inch by the time she left the house, and got worse the closer she got to Newport, where she works. She's in New bern now and says it's othing, though it just starting to come down, but it's not sticking. There's nothing in Goldsboro, and they got out school today. It should've been early out at most, especially with exams going on.
We ended up getting 8" in Hampstead! They called this a "sweet spot" on the weather tonight - some folks might have another name for it, but it is beautiful! Especially when we know it won't be around long! Going to probably get worse before it gets better though - rain falling will melt some and then it will freeze tonight - be careful everyone!
We had 6 to 8 inches out on Topsail Island before the sleet started packing it down, that just doesn't normally happen here on the beach. My mom said, "Hey when's the snowplow coming to clear the street?" Guess what mom, we're not in Kansas anymore, there are no snowplows. Those roads are an icy mess, stay safe and warm, everyone.
And I am hoping and praying to leave Ohio someday because I never want to see snow again! Ha!!
