Can anyone tell me about the housing and the schools in Moyock, and do they have any organic farmers markets or organic grocery stores?
Or grass fed beef?
THanks

I know you submitted this question a long time ago, so I don't know if you will check this or not.

Moyock only has 1 grocery store which is a Food Lion and it only has 1 drug store. You have about 4 or 5 places to go for fast food. There are only about 2 or 3 sit down restaurants. Most of the people who live in Moyock go to Chesapeake to shop and go out. There is only one major highway in Moyock which runs through all of Currituck County.

When the summer season comes, the main highway is gridlocked with tourist traffic trying to get down to the outer banks. You pretty much don't come out of your house during the summer.

The schools are pretty good and the area is growing!

Moyock is a very nice place but it's not for everyone.

Ditto. I have lived in Currituck (mainland), on the Currituck Sound, for 8 years, from urban area in VA. Lifestyle is laid back, don't expect much in the way of culture, it's more like stepping back in time about 40 years. In every way, btw.

Main sports are muddin' and turtle squirtin' (don't ask) for the locals -- just kidding, but it does speak to where Currituck is in its evolution.

I live on the water, keep my boat wet most of the time, love to scoot over to the north beaches, love the lack of traffic after work, not crazy about the tourist gridlock every Saturday and Sunday during peak season but it is manageable.

Winters can be brutal here on the Sound (not extremely cold, just windy with Nor'easters and a wet sort of cold. Shades of grey in winter. Schools are pretty good, and the NC university system is both excellent and cheap for residents.

OBX has shopping and restaurants, and I'm also close to Chesapeake VA where there is everything we don't have here. Reasonable golf prices for two excellent courses Carolina Club and The Pointe.

Some growing pains. Long term growth. Lots of water. GREAT place in spring, sumer, fall, and even the windy winters. Etc.

Hope this helps.
