Believe it or not, with the many military bases in NC, there are lots and lots of mixed race families in Eastern NC. In my homeroom I have 4 out of 30 that list themselves as mixed race. I know it is hard to believe, but it will not be a problem.

I know there are a lot of haters out there, but you might consider Newport, NC. It is about 10 miles inland, very close to the fast growing retail of Morehead City (they now even have an olive garden!) and the houses are reasonable. Additionally, it is adjacent to Havelock, with USMC air station, where mixed race will not get a second look.

Newport is not sexy, but is is close to sexy, stable, and should be a good fit.

Not really speaking about REDNECKS and certainly not about RACISM, but from my experience, NC and MINN are a lot different in just the way folks have learned to look at things. Not saying better or worse, but certainly different. Just a heads up, and welcome!

I am just curious if you could go into more detail on this... Every bit of info helps! Thanks!
