My impression from the reading I've done is that there aren't lots of high paying jobs in the Wilmington area. I'm wondering, however, if there's much demand for independent contractors to do maintenance work and home improvements. I know some resort areas always seem to have a great need for such work, but I wanted to get a sense for the demand in Wilmington.

Thanks,
Jim

We live in Sneads Ferry near Jacksonville, but within commuting distance of Wilmington. There is a lot of construction work going on here, mostly for Marine families. We are looking for someone competent to build a screened porch which conforms to the HOA standards, get the permits, etc. My neighbor also wants a screened porch, and I suspect there's a lot more demand for this type of work.
