Default Is anyone familiar with Carolina Shores?

Is anyone familiar with Carolina Shores? Looks real pretty on the web - It looks like an older neighborhood as the landscaping appears more mature than other areas on or near the coastal shores.

Carol, Carolina Shores is a lovely neighbourhood.....well town, and it is older. Over the years, we have met many residents of Carolina Shores, (a lot of them work at area golf courses) they all seem to love their community.
I think it is perfectly placed in the area.

One thing to keep an eye on is the fate of the Carolina Shores Golf Course. It was foreclosed on earlier this year and was to be sold at auction in July. That sale has been postponed til Sept.

There has been a lot of speculation about what will happen to it and if it remains a golf course at all. I'm not sure how this will impact real estate in that community.

If it remains a golf course there will be no impact. If it doesn't remain a golf course you can expect a moderate drop in property values.

I get up that way on golf vacations twice a year and hit the Elks up on every visit. Many Carolina Shores people hang out there and I have never met one that I didn't like.

We rented a home on the golf course for almost 3 years in Carolina Shores. It has many affordable homes to buy right now and many social activities to participate in within the neighborhood (card groups, garden, etc.). However, we were the youngest people on our street (mid 50's) and found we missed being with people our own age at times. Regardless, our neighbors were very friendly and we enjoyed the convenience of living there. It was also very safe and provided good opportunity to walk or ride bikes into Calabash. The Calabash area has a few local stores, but if you're a Kohl's person then you'll have to drive about 40 minutes to Wilmington or Myrtle Beach!

thanks for the info Stevaura.

I thought Myrtle Beach was closer to Carolina Shores than that. We have never been there so I am just going by what the distance appears on the map.

I am not familiar with Kohl's - one moved into my area about two years ago. We shop mostly in Macy's for clothing and household items and Target. BUT, of course, thanks to the internet, we can shop in any store we want today can't we? I like that there are a few local stores in Calabash - it's so nice to just walk around town at times.

I am looking forward to biking, hiking and golfing all year round. Boating and fishing are my hubby's priorities. In New York - we are not as active outdoors in the winter months - from November to early March we are pretty much indoors.

We enjoy a mixed age group - I assumed though that the Carolinas in general would have many retirees because of the warm weather. I am hoping to continue working part time - perhaps in one of the community colleges to meet new friends and involve myself in community related events and affairs. I understand what you mean about being around people our own age that we can relate more to. I am in my late 50s - and, it would nice to meet others around that age also - but, like you, it is not a priority.

I am very glad to read that it is a safe area . . . I'm sold!
