Just experienced my first significant waterspout coming on shore in Carolina Beach. Was told about it being a frequent event just last week. Was very interesting experience. Hopefully there is minimal damage and no injuries. Wonder how many other posters here experienced it?

we owned a house on pleasure island for ten years,[did not live there fulltime though]
never saw or heard of one.

while they might be considered common in the month of august I would never say it is a frequent phenom.
now hurricanes, thats another story.

quite a week this week - water spout hits land, making it a tornado....shark attack on Kure /at the H street public access ....little close for comfort.......

Followed by an earth quake and now a hurricane. Just saw on the news Locust were moving up from South America. Just kidding.

No I missed the spout/tornado. Went on the beach shortly after it ended and talked with life guards and other folks who were there. Saw some good pictures they took.
