People who act like their vacation changes are the end of the world and the worse part about the storm get on my nerves. How shallow.
They seem to be the center of their universe.
Lets focus on the safety & well being of everyone in this path and then on helping people who may lose their homes . If changing your vacation is all you are thinking of you need to plan a mission trip for your next vacation.
I think it's pretty natural for a person to feel disappointed, upset, sad when their vacation plans have been suddenly disrupted. Yes, some people have it worse, no question.
But having your long awaited vacation that you've worked hard for, scrimped and planned for suddenly taken away can be a pretty hard blow to absorb. Being disappointed for yourself doesn't mean you don't care about others...

Agree, and I would bet that after their initial focus on their vacation being sidetracked, most folks are truly concerned for those in harm's way.
People dont know how good they have it in the U.S.A. despite the financial mess and abberant weather conditions ; such people should spend some time in a 3rd world country ... but their entitle-itis attitude wouldnt allow for such.
Hey I'm from New York....didn't you know it's all about us?!
seriously though I was trying to gather advance notice by cruising your threads.
I'm predicting a dud up here. How was it?
stay safe
Don't predict a dud - they're saying even if it's downgraded to a tropical storm it'll have no effect on the flood. I have no idea what NYC faces but take it seriously for sure. At the very least, the loss of power could be awful. I left, but apparently my power went out at 4 a.m. and is still off, perhaps not to be back on tomorrow either, and the outage map shows six outages in my little neighborhood alone. My house had no damage but others were not so lucky.
