Hatteras Island is closed. "Dare County Emergency Management has determined that there will be no entry for visitors to Hatteras Island through the Labor Day weekend."
So all of OBX south of oregon Inlet is closed.
Ocracoke (Hyde Co) just started letting residnts back.Staring today:
"Hyde County officials continue the limited reentry to Hyde County. On Thursday, September 1, vehicles with a purple sticker and vehicles with a green sticker (residents) will be allowed on the Swan Quarter and Cedar Island ferries to Ocracoke, in that priority order. Residents with a current, valid driver's license with an Ocracoke address are also allowed"

Water (drinking) quality is a big issue.
Curfews are in place
Roanoke Island has been severely impacted.

"Parts of Roanoke Island faced the soaked aftermath of what may have been the worst flooding in decades. And the about 2,500 who ignored evacuation orders on Hatteras Island remained all but cut off from the world.

In downtown Manteo, residents and shop owners affected by the floodwaters tentatively took to their damaged property, Mayor Jamie Daniels said."
Virginia Pilot

"One thing I'm finding is people just don't know where to begin," he said. "We're learning as we go."

Whether officially or unofficially-OBX is closed.

Downtown Manteo floods whenever there's a slight drizzle. It's perfectly fine now. As usual the places further inland got the worst of it along with the soundside parts of the northern beaches, which tourists don't visit anyway.
