I was talking to someone recently and they indicated that there was some damage from hurricane Irene in the New Bern/Havelock area, to include roof damage and flooding.

Would appreciate any additional insight.

Thank you

Yes there was damage here in New Bern and Havelock. There was alot of flooding in downtown New Bern. Many trees fell down onto homes, etc.

The most amazing part was that my inlaws live in Emerald Isle and yet had no damage and did not lose power! Where we live in NB, we lost power for 3-4 days. Thank Goodness for our generator! We did not lose our food. There was alot of damage in Trent Woods. They lost power for nearly a week.

Hurricane irene flooded our whole yard.Luckily our house was built on stilts.Hurricane Irene flooded all four of our cars and our garage. Our tables and chairs that were outside were carried away in the water.

Irene just sat down by the coast and drilled New Bern with sustained SW winds for hours and hours. Pushed a lot of water up the Neuse and into streets. Our street had dozens of trees down...very similar to the pictures from WWII Europe where trees by the dozen were cut to obstruct roads.

Two roofs in our neighborhood, that I know of, were destroyed.

We were without power for two days. The feed to my house was pulled out in addition to other line damage.

I would not make the leap that the damage from Irene was typical of a CAT1.
