Default Fishing license

Does anyone know if you have to buy a fishing license if you want to fish on your vacation? We will be staying on Sunset Beach and would like to fish in the Canals and the Ocean. If anyone know, do you also know how much a license costs and if you can get one for just one week?

Sure it does, but you have to answer a series of online questions to determine which license(s) would be the most appropriate. My guess would be:

Coastal Recreational Fishing – 10 Day: Authorizes fishing in coastal and joint waters during the ten-day period specified on the license. It does not authorize fishing in inland waters.

This is the first year licenses have been required for salt water fishing in NC.

According to the license page it would cost you $10 for 10 days.
