Hello People

I am moving to north carolina. I am a newlywed but my husband is from chesapeake va. He just took a job down there and i will be joining him after i finish school. I am from schickshinny, pa. So i have no clue about the south. He needs to commute to his job in chesapeake so where would anyone recommend would be the best place to live. We are looking for affordable homes or apartments . Please let me know where would be the best places to live

I am in a similar situation to yours. I was offered a job in Va Beach and don't want to commute from Newport News everyday (terrible tunnel traffic) and am looking for something on the VA/NC border that is affordable and in a safe area. VB would be great if the crime weren't so bad and rent so high.

Elizabeth City or Edenton would be my choice. Ahoskie, was never very impressive to me.

hey.. well if you find something let me know. I won't be moving down there till maybe august,. but my husband is already down there at a job. I live in small town and i never saw such expensive areas. Its very hard to find a good and save place. He has lived in cheapeake va all his life, just for the little ranch his parents own its a quarter of a million dollars that is to expenisve and stupid i n my book
