Default Nearest Beach

It sure would be nice to see the ocean again! We are moving to the Concord area and I'm thinking the nearest ocean will be the Willmington area? Am I wrong? Please tell me where the nearest ocean is from the Charlotte area and roughly how far a drive it is.

thanks!

from concord, you are probably a little closer to charleston, sc only because the route there is mainly highways..........my guess would be 4 ish hours, maybe closer to 5. If you go to wrightsville beach in wilmington, then it is going to take longer because you will have to go on back roads, divided highways, and will probably end up taking longer than going to charleston.

You're closer to Wilmington. You would need to get down to 74 in Matthews and then it's a straight shot to Wilmington, all but 13 miles of it around Maxton is 4 lane. I drive Asheville to Wilmington that way frequently (through CLT) and I make it in about 5 1/2 hours. Mapquest says over 5 to Charleston, less than 5 to Wrightsville Beach from Concord.

Donna, if you are going to Wilmington it will be slightly under 4 hrs from Concord, take the 85 to the 40 towards Raleigh, that's slightly under 2 hrs and then from Raleigh to Wilmington 2 hrs.
