I am relocating to work at the Costco at Market St and Hwy 117 in Wilmington. Can anyone tell me of a neighborhood or zip code in this area that would be affordable, safe, and nice? By affordable, I mean a condo in the $100,000 range or a small home (1,000 sq feet) in the $150,000 range. Lastly, can anyone speak to the price of home insurance in Wilmington? I am guessing that it is a bit high due to its proximty to the ocean. Thanks for any advice given.

I did a quick search on the big real estate site, and I was suprised at how many nice houses there are in that price range. The Zips 28412 (Carriage Hills), 28409 (The Cape/Carolina Beach Road) and 28411 had many of these homes or condos.

The home-owners insurance *is* high. We got ours thru an independent agent, not one of the big companies. It did not help trying to combine the auto and home-owners policies, as the big company rates were too high. I'll send you a DM, if you want the agent's name.

Happy hunting!
