I just checked-As of today (Sept. 3) there are 260 single family residential properties and 97 condo/townhomes for sale in Emerald Isle.
From the town's website: Population: Permanent 3,803 - Peak Season 50,000

Hi Ellise thank for the info.would love to be close to a beach with different things to do.a friend of ours has property in chadwick acres so we a going to look around the area is that part of pender county.Thanks for any info

Sorry for the delay answering; I haven't been online much lately.

Chadwick Acres is in Onslow County in the Sneads Ferry area. From what I can tell there are no parks, public water access, or anything of the sort in that area. But of course you would be close to the northern part of Topsail Island; and there is a public boat launch underneath the Sneads Ferry bridge over the ICW.

"Downtown" Sneads Ferry is kind of quaint, but very small.
