We checked the pod companys, and one of them will store it for you and bring it to the new place. Of course, they charge you for storage. You have to do a full cost analysis to see what works best for you. We had so much stuff, it was more cost effective to hire a mover.

I used both - a pod to store everything I didn't need while trying to sell my house (decluttering!) and then movers to move everything left when I finally did sell it.

If you get the pod, you're stuck moving everything from it by yourself. Unless you hire someone. A mover will take care of everything. I definitely suggest a mover for a long distance.

Depends on how much stuff you have, how far you're moving, and how long you will need to store your stuff in your new community BEFORE moving it INTO the new home. Get several bids. Pods is the "established brand" in portable storage units, but they have several competitors.

Be aware that NOT ALL COMPANIES WILL SHIP TO (OR PICK UP FROM) ALL LOCATIONS. Before even bothering to get price estimates, first confirm whether a particular storage unit company will go to your old location AND your new location. Then just do your comparisons.

If you have a whole bunch of stuff, professional movers might be more cost effective for you. You might also want to get estimates from 2 or 3 of those, if any service your area.

Good luck with your move,
Dan
