I am enjoying a Christmas present from our electric company. It is a compact fluorescent light bulb which I installed in the desk lamp at the computer. The light is almost natural. The old incandescent bulb got very hot, while this one stays cooler. Thanks JOEMC!

No offense, but you do realize these have been out for a while?

Yeah, but these two were free! And, I had never tried one in my desk lamp before, and did not realize they were cooler. It's one of the small joys in my simple retirement life.
