Hello all!

Wanted to know if I could get opinions on the area of Chadbourn, NC. I currently reside in Myrtle Beach SC..but have found a home that I would be extremely interested in purchasing if I was certain of the area and neighborhood. I have never even heard of this little town until I found this house. It is located on E Railroad Ave.
Can anyone tell me what that area is like? I am really just concerned about the crime, I do know that this town is not the best for jobs, but this is not an issue, as we both work within an hour of the town and will keep our present jobs.
So what I would really like to know if the area is a safe one to live, what the neighborhood and the surrounding areas are like, etc...

Thanks!

Here is the City-Data city page on Chadbourn, which has various stats including crime. I know someone who grew up there, but hasn't lived there in 30 years. I think it is essentially no different than the scores of tiny towns in that part of the state--economically depressed and "dried up".

I have took a look at those, and also found some sites that show the crime rates around that area, I do agree with it not having much going for it, but Wilmington and North Myrtle beach are only about an hour away.....but it is sad that towns like this just seem to fall further down economically....Thanks for the reply, I really like to hear everyone's personal opinions on an area....
