I had never heard of geocaching until my sons gave me a Christmas present a few years ago of a handheld gps device. Then I discovered Geocaching - The Official Global GPS Cache Hunt Site. Have not done it in awhile now but if you have some time to explore this will help you discover some really unique and cool places around the Wilmington area that I just would not have found otherwise. And as added fun, it is a treasure hunt. An example is it took us to the Fort Fisher walking trails, some beautiful gardens and bike/walking trails hard to find and not advertised.

Happy geocaching and exploring!

This benchmark isn't in Wilmington but I do have a photo of it. My husband and I were in the Cedar Mtn area of NC and stopped at Ceaser's Head. This way, people can see what a benchmark actually looks like. Liz

That's cool Liz. Found a few benchmarks but not as cool looking as that one. In the caches you can sometimes find some very cool things. There is a cache at the New Hanover County Arboretum and can't remember what I left but took a neat little bonsai starter kit and enjoyed the arboretum.
