We will be visiting the Wilmington area next month to look around and see if we want to relocate. Our original preference was for a 55+ community, but upon reflection, we realize that it's not the age restriction that is attracting us to that environment. It's the easy ability to meet people, the clubs, the social activities, the pools, the exercise rooms, the events, etc.

Our preference is to have many neighbors who are retired and active, like us, so that we can establish new friends quickly and easily. It's not that we don't like kids so much as we don't have much in common with younger families. Especially since they only have weekends free.

Golf is not one of our activities, so a course is not essential, but I admit, they do make a place pretty.

I am aware of St James Plantation in South Port, which seems to fit. Winding River and Ocean Ridge, maybe?

In Wilmington, someone suggested Hidden Pointe on the Bay?

Other suggestions, please?
