We know some people who moved to this area and they can't stop saying how great it is.

Honestly, we only passed through once. We were visiting Myrtle Beach SC, which we love and visit frequently, and we spent a few days in Wimington which we thought was a nice town too.

We got lost driving back attempting to visit our nephew at West Virginia University. We brifly passed through this area, and found it - unremarkable.

These people are pretty much driving us crazy braggin' on this place "Oh it's God's country!" "it's so beautiful" "No place is like it" blah blah blah...

NC is a beautiful state - we love the mountains and the shore.
But we didn't think so much of this particular area - lots of flat land, trailers, roadside Churches, and shacks.

They live in a place called Sam Potts Hwy. We never passed it, but they say it's known to be "The most beautiful stretch of land in the Carlinas"They say this like it's a fact.

Are these braggarts puttin' one over on us or what?

If they have found a place that makes them very happy, who can dispute it?

However, I agree with you, that (from the aerial view) it looks unremarkable-- a mix of flat farmland and timberland.
