I am 21 years old, looking to rent a one bedroom apartment for my last year at ECU. I do not want a "ecu college apartment complex", I am a education major, trying to find a nice quiet place to live that is safe for a female living alone. I have looked at a lot of places, but I am having trouble deciding which one's are safe - finding some in my price range. My max is $500 a month, because most only include water and sewer, maybe cable. Here are some of the ones I am considering - if anyone has any information to help me, it would be greatly appreciated!!!
1. Courtney Square
2. Belle Meade
3. Whitebridge (apartments, not duplexes)
4. South Haven
5. Lewis Street Apts
6. Tree Tops apartments
7. Bradford Park
Also, if anyone has info on if any of these do month to month, or 6 month leases please let me know! May possibly have to move somewhere else 2nd semester due to education placement - would prefer to not sign a 12 month lease!! Thank you!

I am not familiar with all of those, so I'll just ask. Do you need to be close to ECU, or on a busline? Or close to somewhere else?

I've heard good things about Wesley South as well. They're off of Brownlea.

Belle Meade
South Haven (I know a lot of people who live out there, it's generally quiet with a mix of both young and middle age people, it's generally safe but I'm not sure if all the utilities are included but I'll be able to get back with you on Thursday if you still want to know)
Bradford Park

Thanks for your replies,

Mr. Bojangles, I am not concerned about being close to ECU or on a bus line, because I drive to class and I will be starting my internship, so I will only be on ECU's campus a few times a week. The main criteria I have is $500 a month or less, 1 bedroom, and most importantly safe!! I have not looked into Wesley South, I will have to check it out..thanks!

BMOREBOY - are you saying you know a lot of people that live in South Haven? (I saw you wrote Belle Meade at the top and Bradford park at the bottom - not sure which you were talking about) I am pretty sure South Haven it's just Water and Sewer - but I could be wrong! Thanks for your help! Any info is greatly appreciated!!

Tree Top Villas and Moss Creek Apartments are all one bedroom apartments.

If you want to see if a complex is fairly safe, drive through at various times, especially at night/early A.M. on the weekends. Mind you, most break-ins (anywhere and everywhere) happen in the daytime when everyone is working or at school.

I would stay away from the majority of the "student apartments" except for Copper Beech. I'm not sure of the price but it's far enough away from downtown that it's no as dangerous. Plus they are going to build a new Walmart just east of it in a little over a year so you'll be in a good central location.
