Hi everyone,

My friends and I (mid twenties) are looking to for a place to live 40 minutes or less from the coastline.

All 3 of us have different occupations and would need a place where we can find jobs and a decent place to live.

Any suggestions?

in NC, you probably want Wilmington. Not many jobs anywhere else.

In SC, Charleston. In GA, Savannah. Those are the actual "cities" with somewhat diverse economies.

I'm hearing there are no jobs along the coastline. Definitely need to know what industries. Wilmington would be the one if you're set on the coast. If you're willing to be 2.5-3 hours away try the NC triangle (Raleigh, Durham, Chapel Hill...add Cary to that)

Newport: you have retail and tourist stuff in Morehead City, engineering at MCAS Cherry Point, and more traditional stuff in New Bern.

But, as others have said, many want to live your dream, so jobs are few and far between.

Except for in Wilmington and Jacksonville, there are few businesses large enough to need someone with physics or business degrees. I think y'all would end up under-employed, working in retail or hospitality jobs.

I think the Virginia Beach area, including Norfolk, Portsmouth and Hampton Roads is a better prospect for technical jobs.
