high schools in Wilmington
I think Cape Fear Academy may be the only private high school here in Wilmington that isn't a Christian school. Have you looked there? They offer an open house every Tues. morning at 9. It is expensive and not particularly diverse, but from what my friends say who have kids there, the academics are accelerated and it prepares them well for college. Also, the Lyceum Academy at New Hanover High School has an excellent reputation. It's like a school within a school, but it's strictly for juniors and seniors. My son is in 8th grade now. We're in the Hoggard district, but I don't like the size or the block scheduling there. We are very dismayed by the lack of a good alternative private high school here. You didn't specify what the differences are that your daughter is struggling with. If you care to elaborate, I might be able to offer some more thoughts. Good luck!
