Hi,

My dog has a really stubborn flea or tick borne illness (not Lyme) and I am in desperate need of a very experienced vet who can give a second opinion - first vet is very focused on her front paws, meanwhile she's limping on her back. Anywhere in Wilmington would work as long as it's someone excellent - thank you

I'm not sure where you've taken her, but I take my dog to VCA Wrightsville Beach. I see Dr.Wagner (though she goes by Dr. Lewis now), and she's very nice and my dog really likes her. I haven't had any bad experiences with them. I like that the whole place is clean and doesn't have a bad smell like some vets do.

I liked Four Oaks Pet Hospital on Oleander Drive. Dr. Pandolfi is really good. 910-397-0710.

I'm thinking the same thing.

I'm also wondering - has your dog ever lived in another part of the country? Different areas have different illnesses. For example, here in AZ we have Valley Fever which causes similar symptoms to Lyme disease, but no vet from out of the area would ever think to look for it. Nor would I expect them to unless the vet had ever lived in this area.

Thanks all! I had another visit with my regular vet and I feel a little better - he's actually consulting w/someone at NC State about my dog. I feel bad that I keep questioning him; I just hate to see my dog in pain.

We used to live elsewhere in NC but I think my dog has always been in NC (I adopted her). She's better w/some new pain meds while we wait for the next steps...which may include a trip to the vet school.
