Hi everyone,

I wanted to know if any of you knew where I can take my dog in topsail beach. I want to go this weekend and relax at the beach with my pup. Any ideas?

Thank you in advance.

Are dogs allowed on the beach?
Yes, dogs are allowed, but they must be on a leash from May 15th through September 30th. At other times the dog must be under voice command of a responsible person, but does not have to be on a leash. The person must always be prepared to remove any "deposits" left by the dog. These regulations apply to the entire town including the beach.

North Topsail is a separate town with it's own regulations. Dogs must be on leash, and you must clean up after them or it's a $100 fine. Rules here: http://www.ntbnc.org/Pages/BeachActivitesRules.aspx

We were just out at North Topsail Beach. While it is attractive, it is narrow and the high tide touches the dunes. There is more to do in Topsail or Surf City-- more restaurants and places to shop. There is only one snackbar at the fishing pier in NTB.

We own a place on Topsail Beach, the town at the southern end of Topsail Island. A primary reason we ended up there is that it is dog friendly. "Doggy bags" are available at all of the public beach accesses.

If you really want pretty, go to Serenity Point at the very southern end of the island. No development there.

Thanks, Ill check that out. I assume they let the dogs in the water, correct? Is the water calm?
Also what do you guys mean by high tide reaching the dunes? Thank you so much, I appreciate all the help
I can get.

Yes the dogs can go in the water, though our Ginny isn't quite onboard with that yet, and our late Tic Tac wouldn't even get his paws wet. So much for Dutch Barge Dogs...

Whether the water is calm depends on a lot of things. Can't predict.

Topsail Beach just completed a beach replenishment project so the beaches should be in pretty good shape.

North Topsail has erosion issues. As goldenage mentions, the waves actually come under some of the beach front homes at the most northern end. At high tides along many of the areas in the north you can't really get onto the beach because the waves come to the dunes.

Best bets are Surf City or Topsail Beach. Not sure of the Surf City dog rules.

Oh wow! That's scary! It seemed like north topsail seemed
more tranquil though. What do you all suggest? Is topsail
the kind of beach Where you go in and it gets deep immediately?
Miami beach is like that, I hated it.
Thanks all.

North Topsail IS tranquil. It's beautiful at the far north surrounded on three sides by the ocean, New River Inlet, and the sound. Scary if you own a home there.

Any of the beaches should be fine. Surf City is a bit more built up, but other than that the water doesn't get terribly deep all that fast.

The nice thing about Topsail Island is that it's not that far to drive from one end to the other. If you start at North Topsail and the tide is too high, move on south. Actually Serenity Point sounds nice too. Hope you have reservations already.
