We went walking on the beaches by the Eastern Regional Access at Emerald Isle today.

The water has cooled some, but the temperature is still nice. The biggest change is from the cool front that moved through today.

The weather was spectacular today. The humidity was gone, and we have the windows open in our home.

We're looking forward to sleeping with the windows open for the first time here on the coast since late June.

Here are some pictures for those of you who couldn't be on the beach today.

It is not exactly crowded on the beach these days. That tiny dot on the horizon is a shrimp boat. The shrimp are running. Fresh North Carolina shrimp are available everywhere along the coast.

The wind and waves seem to have brought in some nice large shells.

Some critters now think they own the beach.

It's a good time to visit.
