My fiance may be going to the Brody School of Medicine. I am a social worker and would be looking to work at the Department of Social Services there or in a nearby county. We would be looking to buy a place for under 100k (townhome would be great). Any suggestions for good neighborhoods near the medical school? Any med school wives/husbands out there want to offer advice? Also, does anybody know anything about the Department of Social Services in Pitt County and the surrounding Counties? Any actively liberal-ish churches? Any info would be great!

For homes, i'd recommend looking at Dudley's Grant off of Firetower Rd. for the price range you mentioned. If you want to spend a little more, Brook Hollow off of Dickinson offers duplexes for around 125-150k and it's close to the hospital. I'd recommend doing a price search on Realtor.com.

Stick to the older established mainline churches for "liberalishness" I was a pastor there for 7 years.
BTW-Where are you coming from?

Default Another suggestion...

Moderator cut: advertising

You should be able to find what you are looking for there. A previous poster listed some very nice areas as far as townhomes go. There are lots closer to the hospital/Brody School of Medicine as well.

As far as churches go, the church I attend, Discovery Church, is not what I would consider "liberal-ish", but we have several med students and residents that attend. It is a very contemporary church, with lots of young couples and families. We do a lot for the community because we believe that sharing Christ's love is what it is all about.

You can check it out online at: discoverychurchonline.com

Default Greenville

Tara condos in Greenville are very beautiful and private. Have you gone into Craigs list for Greenville? There are homes fsbo on the list. You might want to check out Winterville also.
My girlfriend is a Social Worker working at the Brody School, she just told me the other night that there are going to be openings. She works with the premies. Good luck to you both on your move. kelsie

Default Selling Our Townhome

My husband graduated from Brody last year and our townhome is for sale. We love that townhome, it was perfect for us. It is in Lakeview, about 4 minutes from the hospital.

We also went to Covenant Church there and loved it.

Please let me know if you are interested in hearing more about the townhome.
