I am taking my family to Wilmington for a few days. We do want to spend one of the days checking out the city or surrounding area. What are your top 3 "must do" activities in Wilmington (besides the beach)?

Thank you!!!!!

As a history & nature buff my top 3 would be:

NC Historic Sites - Fort Fisher (though I think Fort Macon is much better)

North Carolina Aquariums North Carolina Aquarium at Fort Fisher

USS North Carolina Battleship

A couple of others, depending on your interest. 1) Airlie Gardens 2) The Railroad Museum. 3) Just walk the downtown waterfront and have a nice lunch.

The USS North Carolina (it is actually 1, 2 and 3)
The Children's Museum
I would walk the waterfront

A bit farther from Wilmington, within an hour for sure, is one of the three NC State Acquariums..at Fort Fisher, more or less.
The Cape Fear Museum is pretty good as well. Would not be more than an hour or two.

Battleship and lunch downtown are my top two priorities. If you need a third, go back to the battleship. I love the battleship...
