One last quickie question, I'm in the middle of the move from Concord to Shallotte.....it seems most people I know from having family in the area, use New Hanover Regional Med Ctr in Wilmington for their surgeries and doctors, etc. Maternity too...Brunswick Hospital always had mixed reviews, lots of negatives, BUT, they have been bought out now by Novante IIRC. So they are supposed to be new and improved.
I have found an OB group in Wilmington near NHRMC but if Brunswick Hospital is ok, I'd rather not have to make the 45 minute trek to the weekly OB appointments and to the hospital to deliver when labor starts, IF Brunswick is good. I am afraid to trust it without knowing of people who use it though, and everyone I know in Brunswick County, at least 4 or 5 people, has delivered in Wilmington.
Does anyone know anything about the maternity serviced at Brunswick? I need to make a decision soon and I don't think I want to risk it, but then, the drive is going to be hard in the last month or two...45 minutes each way to a doctor's appointment.

I just recently moved to Missouri but have used the Women Center right next to Brunswick Hospital my doctor was Mr. Wilson. I really liked him. I used him for 3 months while I was pregnant and I lost my baby but they took care of me and I had to get a D&C the hospital was friendly and great. There was no waiting and very quick. I would have use the same doctor and delivered my baby at the Brunswick Hospital if I got pregnant again and was still living at Oak Island. It is really your preferrence. There is a new wing that is being build last summer just for maturnityand labor & delivery at New Hanover but I am not sure if done. I was in the moms club of southport and I had two moms that had their babies delivered at Brunswick Hospital and had a really good experienc there. I too have heard some people don't like Brunswick hopital but was never told the real reason why. I was using a pediatrician in Oak Island that everyone waved about but she miss diagnosed my daughter on two occasion. So she stuck out for me. So everyone opinion is different. I really think you have to trust and like your doctor. I think that is very important. Good Luck. I hope I help your decision some what.
