Default Thinking of moving to the coast area of NC

I figured this was the best way to give you all the info....
When are you moving?
As soon as my property in New mexico sells, anyone want to trade? lol

Where are you coming from?
Las vegas NM, a rural little town. Always been a country girl!

Why are you moving?
I hate bitter cold weather after getting hypothermia one year, my mom grew up around water and my little sis has never seen anything bigger then Salt lake.

Where will you be working?
That's one of my questions, I currently work on a moblie spay/neuter unit that travels the state. I love my job but changes are happening and they aren't good ones. I'm thinking of animal control or Kennel manager. I have very good animal handling skills, but I'm not real fond of humans.....What type of animal oriented jobs
can be found there?

Where will your work location be?
Within an hour of where i live.

What city are you moving to?
Hoping people can give me tips on where to find work i know so I can really start to search.

Have you been here yet?
Nope....Hoping to visit this fall.

Will you buy or rent?
Buying, i'm done dealing with landlords, also I have rescued animals over the years and that won't stop....I currently have 6 dogs and 5 cats. but two cats are foster kittens fished out of a dumpster and one puppy that was found under a semi.

Do you prefer bustling activity or calm and quiet?
Prefer the quiet but in or near a town since my mom doesn't drive.

Anyone got any good locations???? Thanks!

We have the usual animal shelters in every county. Also lots of veterinarians, and a few farms and horse boarding facilities. I live near Jacksonville and suggest it as a possibility. Here's an all-purpose job hunting site that might help: http://www.monkeydoit.com/jobs-onslow-county.php

Wilmington, Greenville, Morehead City, Kinston and Wilson are also cities that might have jobs for you.

Be prepared for hot, humid summers with lots of mosquitoes. The rest of the year is nice with very little snow.

Leland, Winnabow are good place to start for acreage homes that are relatively inexpensive. Perhaps further north of Wilmington as well.

You might also consider opening your own business gradually on the side when you find work. For example if I google "dog neuter wilmington nc" if you were at the top good chance I'd call you to come do your mobile neutering service. $$$ A blog would be perfect for on WordPress. if you need any tips on that I'm always happy to advise small business people on business 2.0 as others provided me good advice along the way as well

[I'm not in the SEO business at all and am not advertising any type of paid services in that arena] Just chiming in on what I know.

Thanks for the advice!

This is what always makes me scratch my head--if you've never been here, and apparently don't have a job calling you here, what has made you decide you're moving here? It's a long way and VERY different from NM. I would think folks would usually choose to move somewhere they had seen and liked, so they want to live there. Not "decide to move there, then see if they like it"? Honest question, not trolling.
