According to my research, Bolivia has a population of 200 according to the last census, and an area of less than 1 square mile. The mailing address of River Run Plantation is Bolivia---as well as the community college and county government buildings. Just from observation it appears many more than 200 people live in these areas.
So can anyone help me figure out where the 200 figure comes from?
What are the town borders that comprise the almost one square mile?
DH and I have just bought property there and I'm curious.
Any other information about Bolivia will be greatly appreciated.

Didn't answer my question ---- and, if St.James is an incorporated town, how can it be located in another town?

This answers your question: http://www.city-data.com/city/Bolivi...-Carolina.html

Scroll down to the map on the right, and click the tab "Google maps". There is a grey-shaded area that must be the incorporated area of Bolivia with 143 people in 2010. Just below it is a red outline map around Main Street.

Obviously the post office uses a Bolivia mailing address for a much larger unincorporated part of Brunswick County.

I coun't give Goldenage any morep, but she hit it on the head. I don't know if it's like that everywhere, but there tends to be a big difference between the city limits of a town, and the size of the zip code. This can be seen in Bolivia and other places like Newport and Pikeville. To the untrained ear, when people hear others speak of certain areas ( like Rosewood, Harlowe, or Ocean for example), they may think they are just referring to neighborhoods, but they are actually unincorporated towns that are wholly in another town/city's zip code.

It's vastly different than CT, where every incorporated town (all 169 of them) is smack up against every other one. Now I know where the town borders are------satisfied my curiosity.
