The opening date for the US-117/O’Berry Road interchange has been pushed back again to December 31. It was supposed to have opened by now.

In I-42 news, the US-70 Corridor Commission has posted their minutes of their July 19 meeting.

If anybody in the area wants to attend, the next meeting of the US-70 Corridor Commission is January 31 in Smithfield. NCDOT Secretary Jim Trogdon will be the guest speaker. Exact meeting location can be found on the home page:

As part of the changes from the last STIP, the upgrade of NC-11 to interstate standards between the future Harvey Parkway interchange and the Greenville SW Bypass, as well as the upgrade of US-17 to interstate standards between the Elizabeth City bypass and the Virginia state line are no longer funded since they did not score high enough.

Other changes include:

Upgrade US-70/Future I-42 to freeway btw La Grange and Dover segments - one phase added and one delayed

Upgrade US-70/Future I-42 to freeway in a segment near the upcoming Havelock Bypass

Widen US-64/Future I-87 to 6 lanes from Wendell Blvd to US-264 split in Zebulon

It seems the Greenville SW Bypass is ahead of schedule and will open this fall, weather permitting. Original completion date was June 2020.
