I recently sodded my yard with Centipede. It has rooted nicely but now it has started to have fescue grasss pop up in the centipede. It looks ok because the centipede is still green but that will soon change. What is a good product to rid my centiped of winter weeds including fescue grass?

Default Centipede grass

Once the centipede goes dormant (this year that is a question of if/when?) you can use a broad spectum killer like "Round-up." The grass must be dormant, or you will kill it also.

As a further note: With centipede, never lime it!

Wherever you are, there should be a Saturday morning AM talk radio "Gardening" call-in program. Call in and ask them for more detailed information on your area. You can always call the crop services people at the extension service, now known as National Resource Conservation Service, but some still list as USDA Soil Service.

Good luck!

Yes like vq1 said you can spray your young seedlings. Your going have to wait until next year. Can you hand pick them out if it really bothering you. That is the best bet so you don't kill your new grass.
