I am surprising my hubby with a short trip down to visit him next weekend in Willmington. I am looking for suggestions on a great, romantic place to take him out for dinner and drinks. I am looking for a place with a great atmosphere and good food, and also I would like to take one night and just go out and have some fun. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated!

i think if you got one of the seats outside, on one of the "balconies" , it would be romantic

but from where i was sitting, inside, it was nothing special at all.

i'd recommend something like Circa 1922.

A balcony at Riverboat is good...I'd also recommend a "hut" at Indochine. The Oceanic at Wrightsville Beach is good whether you are on the pier or on the 2nd floor. The Little Dipper downtown is also a great spot...good fondue that is not a chain.

If you are adventurous, have a beer at Lula's below the Little Dipper...and be sure on your night out to go to Level 5 (just go on the early side)...if you like pool there is Orton's Underground....or Blue Post, which can be a lot of fun. I'd also recommend the Seawitch in Carolina Beach...they have live music (I believe this Friday is Emily Minor who is a local country singer and is good)....and any trip to Carolina Beach would include a visit to Britt's donuts.
