Self Storage suggestions - Hampstead/Topsail Island (Wilmington, Topsail Beach: apartment, to rent)

We're going to need to rent a self-storage unit in conjunction with our move to Topsail Beach in August. We've done a pretty good job getting rid of things but we'll still have more than we can get in our house.

Any suggestions or places to steer clear of?

There seem to be several around, so I would do some price comparison. The ones on Highway 17 are never busy. I would just check that their doors are water-tight, but not sure if they have to be hurricane proof.

BTW, we had professional movers, and everything got moved including our snow shovels. We have never needed the snow shovels, despite the half inch of snow we got this past winter.

I've been thinking of ways to get rid of winter coats. I may mail them to Goodwill stores in Fargo or Chicago.

We're doing a two part move. From our house to an apartment while storing a lot of stuff, then from the apartment to Topsail Beach....and storing a lot of stuff. Not much furniture involved though.

I figure after one winter season I'll have more clothes to get rid of. I was tempted to keep the snow blade for my SUV so I could show off when it finally snows, but it would probably be rusted by then.

I'd recommend Martin Self Storage to out of towners...its nice and clean.

Thanks for the suggestion. We'll take a look. Though technically we will be "in towners" by August!
