Well... the house we wanted in Little River turned out to be more than we could afford. Didn't think that was going to be the case, but it is. So we're back to Calabash and Crow Creek.

I think you are probably paying for the 'closeness to the beaches' - have you thought more 'in-land'??

My wife and I stayed in a three bedroom condo in Crow Creek about four years ago, it was very pleasant. We were there during July and August. The condo was on the third floor with a nice view of the golf course and there was an elevator. I remember that there were children around, at the pool, etc. but not many and it seemed like they were there on vacation. Many of the developments are not strictly retirement communities but most of the people living there are retirees. There are rental opportunities there and you might want to try that before purchasing a place. Renting would also give you the chance to see the area and look at other developments before you take the plunge. Good luck!
