Hampstead, NC is a great coastal place to live. Our schools were ranked number one in the state, I am not sure about this year. My daughter has an 18 acre horse farm here and she would probably board your horses if you bought a place without acerage. We are located about 15 miles NE of Wilmington, but I only go there about once a week, we have everthing you need here in Hampstead. We moved to the coast ten years ago and we love it.
Hope you find what you are looking for.
Eugene

I stopped in Edenton a year ago to visit the community of Albemarle Plantation. My impression of the area was that there was plenty of acreage a few miles from Highway 17 and at reasonable prices. As you go further south, near the ocean, things become a little more developed which means, essentially, higher prices, more traffic, smaller plots of available land.
