Just looking at listings on Zillow, it's a lower budget area, built in the 1960's through 1980's. Single story houses, with larger yards. Some houses need repair, and there have been foreclosure sales. I saw one with a chicken coop mentioned, so there's prolly no HOA enforcing rules. It is just east of the airport so there may be noise.

I'll let someone else comment on the schools, but it is assigned to either Wrightsboro ES or College Park ES and Roland-Grise Middle .

Chicken Coop's are allowed in the City...I know a family in Forest Hills with chickens, so they can be in any neighborhood without a HOA (maybe not the Historic District either).

Kings Grant is NOT in the City and has recently had a sewer project (the reason it has large lots is because it was originally septic tanks). No City taxes, which may be noteworthy.

The schools mainly are the N College Rd schools I believe, I believe Trask Middle and Laney High...not sure about Elementary but can always apply for Eaton year round. Not the worst in town, but not the best.

I also checked Spotcrime.com and there were a couple of arrests last year, but no other crimes reported. The street-view shows a working class neighborhood (lots of pickup trucks), not especially well maintained. For the OP, it's probably a good place to rent for a year, but not somewhere they would want to stay after they get established.

Thanks all for your input. We will only be renting for a year hopefully, we plan on buying by the years end. Being from MA and only visiting NC a few times I'm not familiar with the neighborhoods so what better place to ask then here
