Any good recommendations from the city data foodies? I am moving to Wilmington from SC in a couple weeks and I consider myself a big foodie, so I am inquiring about the locally owned joints that are worth checking out!

* best spot for burgers (not your cheap five guys style but a good one)?

* best spot for happy hour specials, not drinks but food?

* creative food worth trying?

Thanks.

FWIW, I like Five Guys burgers. It is a simple presentation, grilled to order. The buns are good, and the potatoes are genuine. How can you improve on that?

I am also curious, but when did burgers become a foodie "item"?

There was a recent discussion on pizza, and I am curious to try Brixx whenever I am back in town. over a month in Wilmington, still looking for some places.

I am also curious about a couple places on Front Street, for example the tapas place : http://www.circa1922.com/

The OP might also like this for burgers: http://www.frontstreetbrewery.com/specials/

In the creative category: Manna

I was directed there by the most affable person on the planet, the owner of the Five Star Tavern. The food was absolutely superb.

Best burgers in town is P.T.'s Grill! Don't do "happy hour",so can't help you there. Creative......first one that pops in my mind is Havana's.

FWIW, I am not a fan of PT's....I find it highly overrated.

Katy's on College Rd has been around a real long time for burgers.

For creative food, I think Indochine, (if that meets your creative theme). I think the folks at South Beach Grill come up with some creative stuff. And Tower 7 is certainly a one of a kind place.

Very best food Catch on Market Street. Innovative, local and delicious. Expensive and always full, make reservations.

It's not really in any of your categories, but Casey's Buffet is hands down my favorite restaurant in North Carolina and one of my faves anyway. Ooh I crave it. Southen/soul food.
